Former IPL Commissioner Mr. Lalit Modi is in trouble as the Chennai police have registered a case against him and six other persons on allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating and falsification of accounts etc. The charges against Modi have been framed based on a complaint filed by the BCCI a few days back.
The six other persons against whom the Chennai Police have a registered a case are Seamus O'Brian, Chairman, World Sport Group, Andrew Georgio, Chief Operating Officer, World Sport Group, Venu Nair, President, South Asia Operations, World Sport Group, Haris Krishnamachari, , Vice President, South Asia Operations, World Sport Group, Ajay Varma, representative of Software and Security firm Visual Impact and Kunal Dasgupta, the former head of Multi-Screen Media, the broadcast rights holder for the IPL.
The case against Lalit Modi and six others has been registered under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 477 A (falsification of accounts) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
It is reported that as the case has now been registered the allegations will now be probed by police and legal experts. The case will finally be taken to the Court of Law if supporting evidence can be found against the charges.
