Mahendra Singh Dhoni gets married

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian cricket and Chennai Super Kings captain tied the nuptial knot with longtime childhood friend Sakshi Singh Rawat on Sunday. The marriage ceremony was a strictly a private affair with only family members and close friends being a part of it. The marriage took place at Vishranti Resorts in Dehradun and was attended by a a few celebrities like some cricket stars and a few bollywood stars.

Dhoni who got engaged to Sakshi, a 23-year-old hotel management student on Saturday had taken everyone by surprise by marrying her just a day later.

The media who have termed this the biggest wedding of the year was attended by about 50-60 guests which included family members of Dhoni and Sakshi and few of Dhoni's team mates.

Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, RP Singh, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma were the Indian cricketers who attended the function. Chennai Super King's owner and BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan along with BCCI president Shashank Manohar also attented the function.

The wedding also had its share of glamor quotient with Dhoni's friend John Abraham and director-choreographer Farah Khan gracing the occasion.

The marriage ceremony which started at around 8 PM saw Dhoni on a horseback and the groom's party walked for around half a kilometer to the bride's place which was located at the same resort premises.

The wedding venue, Vishranti Resorts in Dehradun was turned into a fortress with invincible security arrangements in place. The media was kept out of it and had to make serious efforts to get information about this high profile wedding.

The couple will be hosting a reception in Mumbai on July 7, which is also  Dhoni's 29th birthday.
