IPL is a domestic T20 tournament organized by BCCI. The tournament started in 2008 and was a great success among the cricket crazy fans of India. Though the second season was played in South Africa due to security issues in India, the tournament has returned to India this season and is expected to be a great success because of its huge fan following.
IPL is T20 cricket tournament which features 8 domestic teams from India representing all major cities of the country. Although it is a domestic tournament of India it has many international players from other countries like Australia, England, South Africa etc. playing for different IPL teams.
IPL 2010 will feature a total of 60 matches and will be played between the 12th March and 25th of April. It is certainly a festival time for the people of India as cricket is no less than a religion in the country. With all Indian cricket stars and international stars part of IPL it is a dream tournament for the normal cricket fan of India.
IPL which is also known as Indian Premier League has 8 teams which compete to be crowned domestic T20 champions of India. The 8 teams which play in the IPL are:

Rajasthan Royals were the champions in the first season of IPL which was played in India in the year of 2008. The second season of IPL which was played in South Africa saw the Deccan Chargers emerge as champions
All the teams in the Indian Premier League are captained by international cricketers both former and present. Chennai Super Kings is captained by Indian captain M.S.Dhoni while Deccan Chargers is captained by former Australian player, Adam Gilchrist. Similarly Delhi Daredevils is led by Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir and Kolkata Knight Riders is led by former Indian cricket captain, Sourav Ganguly. Kings XI Punjab is led by Kumara Sangakkara and Mumbai Indians is captained by Sachin Tendulkar. Royal Challengers Bangalore is captained by former Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble and Rajasthan Royals is led by former Australian leg spinner Shane Warne.
IPL 2010 is being played in India after the last season was plated in South Africa. The tournament has started on 12th March and will end on 25th of April with a total of 60 matches to be played across 11 Indian cities. The various Indian cities which will be hosting IPL 2010 matches are Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Cuttack, Nagpur, Jaipur and Dharamsala.
